A few years back I was skating down to the Tennis Club for a swim. I pushed the board out into the parking lot from between two buildings, and just then a Corvette rolled into view, into the path of my 3 foot oak Simms Longboard. The driver didn’t see the board and kept going. In exquisite timing, the front passenger side tire rolled onto the nose of the board, launching it straight up, twisting into the air.

After a breathless couple seconds, the board crashed into the windshield, creating a crystallized depression, then just sort of rolled off to the side onto the ground. I braced myself for some sort of angry confrontation, but the lady wasn’t freaked out at all. She was a cool kinda hippie, and after a few minutes we arranged an auto glass company to come and replace it. Also a relief was the price tag; $250, much less than I feared.
